Everyone meet Dini:

Dini was part of a group of 3 ferrets who were given to people who knew very little about ferrets. They let them free roam without supervision and she fell from the top of her cage and broke her leg. These people then took her to a non ferret knowledgeable vet and said vet AMPUTATED her leg. Amputation is the absolute last resort in this type of situation. Here are some pictures:

Dini is 4.5 years old and has already had left adrenal surgery. She had an ultrasound on 7/1707 and her right adrenal gland is not enlarged but it does have a nodule on it. As you can see her vulva is extremely swollen:

Dini is just beginning a long process of healing. She will need to heal from her leg amputation and be on medication for her adrenal disease until it can be decided if she can ever have her other adrenal gland removed. Dini is going to have a ferret wheelchair or "wheels" to help her get around for the rest of her life. She's still recovering from a complete butchering. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Dini is going to a ferret specialist here in North Carolina this weekend. There she will get the proper care to help her heal, a complete blood panel and a shot of Lupron to help her swollen vulva.

TriFl is dedicated to educating the public about ferrets and Dini is the perfect example of a ferret who was taken care of by people who did not know enough. She's taught us all a lesson in the importance of being knowledgeable about your pets. Please keep Dini in your thoughts and prayers as she heals. She's a sweetheart who's had a hard life. She deserves more and we intend to give it to her!
