April 10th Meeting Notes
- Triangle Ferret Lovers funds will cover rescue ferret Boomer's adrenal surgery at Dr. Packheizer's clinic in Greensboro.
- Next meeting will be a cookout/potluck at the Dunn's House in Knightdale. See directions in the next column. Please sign up to bring something to the potluck. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided by the club.
- Upcoming bake sale in Durham needs bakers and freezable baked goods. Please bring your contributions to the May 2nd cook out at the Dunn's House.
- Library has a new book on training your ferret tricks and some new magazines available. TriFL librarian Pam Sessoms also has the shipment of videos titled Ferret Fun and Fundamentals for those that ordered them.
- TriFL's night speaking with the NCSU Companion Animal Club was a good experience. Shari Gunter and Robynn McCarthy took ferrets, toys and fliers to the lecture and spoke for about an hour about ferret ownership.
- TriFL's participation in the North Carolina State Renaissance Faire was a lot of fun for everyone involved. Big thanks to the event chair, and all the volunteers. It was a general consesus that we want to keep doing the Faire as it is a great contact event. Four new memberships were gained at the Faire, many items were sold and lots of contributions were made to the club.
- TriFL has been invited again to be a part of the Exotic Animal Expo in the fall, it was decided that we would apply for a space under the Shelter's name, with emphasis on being there for education and to promote the adoption of ferrets.
- TriFL is applying also to be a part of Centerfest, but it is unsure at this time if we'll get in as only a small percentage of non-arts related non-profit organizations are able to participate.
- Apple Fall Chill Fest is still being researched, this is a Chapel Hill event.
- The Ferret Guardian Rescue Haven has many ferrets available in shelter, but most of these fuzzies are special needs animals requiring ferret knowledgable owners.
- The question was raised whether TriFL would attract more people to meetings if we met only every other month. Vote was taken of members in attendance and the idea was rejected.
- Pam Sessoms has been making Bob Church's "miracle" chicken gravy recipe that has done wonders for healthy and sick ferrets alike. She shared her tips on the process with everyone and will have the gravy available to anyone who might want to try it, without the hassle of making it first.
- Big thanks to everyone who attended, and their ferrets. It was a great meeting!
