DECEMBER 6TH SOCIAL & PARTY NOTES

  1. Reminder - We have a vendor booth at the NC Reptile & Exotic Animal Show on Saturday, December 20th at the State Fairgrounds.
  2. If on-line, please check out the Eyegive website and select TriFL as your favorite non-profit organization so that we can receive free funds.
  3. Dancing Ferret ferret products are now for sale; Cotton quilted Sleep Pouches with matching Hammocks and Cage Liners decorate your pets' cage, Crocheted Snuggles that cuddle your ferret on cool nights, Play Tubes in sturdy denim. Pretty colors and patterns all pass inspection from discriminating ferrets.
  4. The November 22nd Bake Sale garnered over $100. Thanks to all that helped out.
  5. If you are in a local pet store shopping for the holidays, please ask them how low their stock of TriFL's three page double-sided "Information Packs" is, and if they request more, contact Shari @ 231-3222.
  6. Our area ferret shelters have over 12 ferts up for adoption. Check out the back page for their telephone numbers.
  7. Raffle Donations were graciously provided by PetsMart (Ferretvite and Lined Hammock), Pet Mania (Two handmade crock bowls), and Sears (Roll About Ball and Santa Suit), which raised over $120.

TRAGEDY IN SPOKANE, WA

On November 19th, more than 80 ferrets were murdered by lethal injections of household chemicals and multiple stabbings. House of Ferrets owner and breeder, Jean Smith, had 143 ferrets when this occurred; 40 were left living, screaming in pain and agony, some hemorrhaging. As of publication date, Spokane police have a suspect (Ms. Smith's house guest) and intend to pursue a warrant for animal cruelty and first-degree malicious mischief. FMLers have been contacting the police and state officials urging apprehension of the criminal.

In order to get medications and veterinary care, Jean Smith's rent and utilities have gone unpaid. Over $3,000 has been spent on treating the remaining ferrets. In the Spirit of the Holidays, please find it in your heart to send a monetary donation to:
