the
web-based EyeGive.com fundraiser program. Check out the TriFL web main page for details on how you can help.
1998 Officer Nominations are:
President - Jim Dunn/Shari Gunter, Vice
President - Jeff
Johnston/Nicole Kincaid, Treasurer - Eric Sessoms,
Secretary -
Cindy Anderson, Legal Counsel - Jeff Marsocci. Anyone can
still
nominate and vote for yourself at our March 7th meeting!
- Treasurer: 1997 Financial Report - club ended the year with
$700. We need to keep a base for our expenses, but also want to
give to another non-profit organization (such as Diane Campbell's
ferret shelter once federal status is obtained). We had 56
new/renewed memberships and received almost $500 from fundraisers.
Over $200 came in as charitable contributions.
- Fundraising: Exotic Pet Expo booth in December garnered a few
memberships, exposure, and disseminated information. Presentations
were done by Jeff Johnston and Jimmy Godwin. Leslie Dunn, and
others, thinks we should do our own Ferret Expo without breeders,
but with shelters, pet stores, etc. The annual Renaissance Faire is
March 29 & 30 at the State Fairgrounds. Our booth is free, but we
need better displays, presentations, and participation. Nicole
Kincaid is coordinator - call to offer your assistance with design,
costuming or working the booth; email -
Imagnepeac@aol.com.
- Library: New book available this month entitled, You Want A What
as a Pet?! Vote was taken to donate $100 from club account to
acquire more materials (videos, books).
- Blood Donor Program: Sergio & Maria Juri have offered to put
together a list of potential donors in case of emergencies or
surgeries. Any healthy ferret can donate blood to another ferret,
as "Slick" Juri found out two weeks ago. The Juri's of Cary will be
coordinating with The Dunn's of Knightdale and Andrea Miralia of
Durham. If you wish to be a donor volunteer, please call the Juri's
at 301-4591 or email juri@raleigh.ibm.com for more details.
Triangle veterinarians will be receiving a flyer describing this new program,
with the Juri's phone number as main contact.
- Shelter Liaison - Matt Herr volunteered to be the liaison for
Triangle area SPCA/Animal Control shelters. On a regular basis, he
will contact them to inquire if they have ferrets up for adoption.
If so, details of their age/ weight/sex/color will be posted to the
club listserv and the Ferret Mailing List (FML).
- Breeders - Two members offered to research medical documentation
on the consequences of early spay/neuter (genetics and immune
system). If this develops into something significant, we can mail
it to breeders encouraging them not to alter their kits at 4 weeks
of age.
