How you can help TrifL
There are several things that you can do to help TriFL help ferrets and the
ferret community. Please consider these simple things you can do.
Renew your membership when it expires.
Volunteer to help out at a TriFL event, your volunteer hours go toward
reducing the cost of your membership renewal.
Donate funds, time or supplies to the Ferret Guardian Rescue Haven shelter.
Donations of newspapers, ferret litter, and food are always accepted.
Donations can also be made toward the shelter's vet bill at Northwood's Animal
Hospital in Cary.

Our Next Meeting:
The Triangle Ferret Lovers will be having their next meeting on March 6th at
the Luther Green Center in Morrisville from 4:30 to 6:30 in the afternoon.
We'll be having our elections for club officers, so all TriFL members are
urged to attend.
Meeting Notes:
- President Jim Dunn and Vice President Nicole Kincaid opened the meeting.
- Pam
Sessoms announced the Treasurer's Report.
- Cindy Barnes announced the success
of the January Ronald McDonald House Education Day.
- TriFL has been invited
back to RM House on Saturday, February 27 from 1pm-3pm. Please call Cindy if
you would like to volunteer 553-0114.
- We still have merchandise for sale,
benefiting The Ferret Guardian Rescue Haven: Ferret T-shirts, Sleep Sacks in
M-XL, and Figurines. Call Shari at 231-3222 to order.
- Leslie Dunn came up
with a great contest idea, post follows meeting notes.
- TriFL would like to
hold a Bake Sale in Durham sometime in April. If interested in volunteering
to bake or sale treats from 10am-2pm. Date, location, and coordinator to be
announced.
- Robynn McCarthy, Newsletter Editor, is still welcoming ferret-
related articles, anecdotes, and pictures for future issues -
asy00013@interpath.com.
- TriFL is still in need of an Education Chairperson
(come up with ideas on how TriFL can educate the public/pet stores on ferrets)
and Membership Chairperson (create more benefits for members and ideas for
obtaining new members). Please join us at the March meeting to volunteer or
contact Jim Dunn at 217-8420.
- Shari Gunter has volunteered to mail out this
issue to all triangle pet sitters to let their customers know of our club.
This is a classic example of what the much needed Membership Chairperson would
come up with, execute, and/or assign.
- No Guest Speaker topics for March and
April meeting/socials were submitted.
- The club Librarian Chairperson, Pam
Sessoms, has acquired more US and International newsletters, plus new ferret
books. TriFL also has a catalog of all past newsletters for members to check
out for one month.
- The Ferret Guardian Rescue Haven updated the members with
the available adoptees: Meeko & Baby (males), Tar & Tac (females), Squezil &
Pugsley (males), Freddie & Fruity (females), and singles, Napoleon, Chewie,
and Dixie. Squeezil is a recent adrenalectomy patient and Pugsley has
lymphosarcoma - both recovering/on medication. These two handsome boys may be
permanent shelter-kids in need of sponsorship (monthly donation to the
shelter) or adopted by knowledgeable fert-people to live out their remaining
years. Please call the shelter if you want to adopt or sponsor -
704-872-9538.
- Club members decided to hold the 2nd Annual Ferret Frolic again
at Crabtree Creek Park in Morrisville. (Please remember to thank Lily D. for
offering a 52-acre Girl Scout campsite in Fayetteville.)
- TriFL is
investigating participating in Chapel Hill's Apple Chill and Fall Fest. An
update will be available at the March meeting.
- Anyone know of a Morrisville
resident? They need not be a ferret lover - we just need to use their
name/address for reduced space fee for the Luther Green Parks & Rec building.
Please call Shari @ 231-3222 and help us save $20 per month for the meeting
location, or you have a suggestion of a place to meet elsewhere.
- Cindy Barnes
has once again volunteered to pickup/drop off the key to our meeting space on
a regular basis. For this act of volunteerism, she accrues 30 minutes each
month towards her membership renewal discount. Thanks!
- Attending club
members were asked if they recommend another meeting time (Saturday at
4:30pm-6:30pm). No suggestions were offered.
- Officer Nominations:
President
- Nicole Kincaid,
Vice President - Cindy Barnes,
Treasurer - Pam Sessoms,
and
Secretary - Caity Martin.
TriFL is still accepting self-nominations before
the March 6th meeting. Please announce yourself on the club listserv or
contact Jim Dunn @ 217-8420. All Officers receive 8 hours volunteer credits
for their membership renewal discount. "A community is only as strong as its
members." Our community of ferret lovers needs you to attend our monthly
meeting socials. It's for the benefit of ferrets and owners alike.
