March 6th Meeting Notes
-
Ronald McDonald House visit was cancelled on February 27. Cindy Barnes will try to reschedule w/them for Saturday, March 20 from 1-3 pm.
- Yard Sale: Saturday, May 1 in Planter's Walk subdivision in Knightdale from 7 am - 3 pm. Volunteers: Cindy Barnes (morning); Nicole Kincaid (very early morning); Shari Gunter and Robynn McCarthy (later morning). Shari will ask Pam Taynor to help out if possible. We have plenty of sale items, but donations are always welcome.
- May 2, Bar-B-Q/cookout at Leslie Dunn's house. We'll have an abbreviated meeting. Club will pay for burgers, hot dogs. Attending members are asked to bring their own salad, desserts, dips, snacks, etc. Raindate: May 16. This event replaces the Ferret Frolic at Crabtree Lake.
- Corporate Sponsor Contest: The member who brings in the most money will get a free membership. Deadline: April 10 (next meeting).
- Rent: Morrisville Park & Rec has changed their policy. Rent is now $45/month. If we find an individual willing to let us use their address, we can get the building for the $25/month we have been paying. Shari Gunter to ask Bob Winslow if we can use his address.
- Education: The Club is still in need of an Education Chair and Membership Chair. If you are able to help in this capacity, please contact Nicole Kincaid. Guest Speaker for June: Shari will speak to Andrea Miralia regarding Dr. Powers' doing a visit in June.
- Library: New video available to members for discount price of $11.97 + s/h. We needed five people to order to get this price. The video is titled "Ferret Fun and Fundamentals". The library is experiencing low circulation of materials. We have many interesting and informative materials available to club members FREE for a month. There are copies of out-of-print books that are very useful, but not readily available to the public now, Modern Ferret magazine, other club newsletters and even the American Ferret Report!
- Renaissance Faire: March 27/28. The shifts are well covered at this time. Robynn will post a schedule to the listserv. We have a great rabbitting display in the works. It will show how ferrets would hunt out the rabbits in their holes. This will be our information/educational display for the Ren Faire.
- NC State Companion Animal Club has invited TriFl to sepak at their Monday, March 22 meeting at 7:15 pm. They meet one Monday/month and have guest speakers on different animals. They would like us to explain basic ferret care, the costs involved in this care, if ferrets are good pets for apartment or home dwellers. We'll also inform them about our club and shelter. Volunteers: Caity, Robynn, Nicole, Shari and ferrets. Vice President Nicole Kincaid is working on a pamphlet/flyer to distribute at this meeting. It would include the cost of raising ferrets (healthy vs. adrenal, lympho, etc.). Also indicated will be costs of food, cage, toys, time, meds (if necessary). We can then use this pamphlet/flyer during our adoption days and other events the club participates in. Pam Sessoms can put this on our web site as well.
- Next Meeting: April 10.
