public awareness, and increase the enjoyment of ferret ownership by

No January meeting, next meeting will be February 6th from 4:30 to 6:30
in Morrisville.
November 7th Meeting Notes

Treasurer’s Report - Balance forward: $615.38; deposits of $471.00;
current balance $981.15. $432.00 went to Northwoods Animal Hospital for
shelter surgeries.Thru June 1998, TriFl has earned $98.24 from Eyegive.
- Holiday Party - RSVPs must be given to Nicole at 266-7408 by November
24,
after 11/20 her number will change to 919-844-9036. Attendees are asked
to bring a ferret gift under $10.00.
- Fundraisers - Ferret figurines,
sleepy sacks, and T-shirts are for sale. All proceeds benefit Ferret
Guardian Rescue Haven.
- Vote - was taken on new logos for our club
newsletter. A decision is forthcoming.
- City Search - is putting together
a pet page for their web site. TriFl was contacted to be included.
Zoophile - an animal newsletter out of Charlotte, distributed at
PetsMart, will list the club and shelter monthly.
- Adoption Day- scheduled
for Saturday, November 14 at PetSmart in Raleigh. Volunteers needed.
- Ronald McDonald House - will be the site of an education day on
January
16th at 1:30. Call Cindy Barnes at 553-0114 to volunteer.
- Ren Faire -
will take place weekend of March 27 & 28. Robynn will chair this event,
she can be reached at 874-0794 if you would like to help out. TriFl needs
to have an educational display. The project could be a rabbitting
exhibit. We would like to have this by March 1. Anyone who volunteers to
do this will earn 4 hours of volunteer time toward their membership
commitment. Check with Shari and Nicole for some nifty ideas!
- Ways to
earn volunteer hours - Volunteer to bake something for the next bake sale
(earn 2 hours); chair an event (earn 4 hours); host one of the club’s
parties (earn 4 hours). A sign up sheet will be posted at all events. All
volunteers at any event will be responsible for signing in and out with
your name and time you spent at the event. The event coordinator will give
this information to Nicole Kincaid, who will keep track of volunteer
hours. When you have completed your eight hours, you will receive a
certificate for $10.00 off your membership renewal.
- Cindy Barnes - is
unable to be both Education and Membership Chair. We need a volunteer for
Education or Membership Chair. Cindy will still be Education Chair for the
Ronald McDonald event. Please consider taking over a position to help her
out.
- Kroger Cares - is a fundraising program we may participate in.
Details forthcoming.
- February - meeting we will take nominations for new
officers. We will need nominees for President, Vice President, Secretary
and Treasurer. Anyone who is interested in becoming a club officer for
1999 will receive eight hours of volunteer credit towards their membership
dues; this gives you $10.00 off the $25.00 regular cost. Elections will
be held at the March meeting.
- Pet sitters - will be needed for the
upcoming holiday season. Contact Shari at 231-3222 to get your name on
the list. If you are in need of pet sitting, we ask that you also take a
turn sitting another member’s pet(s).
- Meeting Schedule - No January meeting, next meeting will be February
6th
from 4:30 to 6:30 in Morrisville.
- Caity and Summer - have set up a new
web site for the shelter. www.ferretguardian.org. Stop by for a visit!
- Walmart - has a program in which an employee can volunteer for 15
hours at
thestore and they will donate $100 to your favorite organization. Holiday
donations - can be made for the shelter’s vet account. Make out your check
to Northwoods Animal Hospital and put in the memo section, “for Account
#9538”. Mail your check to Shari Gunter 5619 Bringle Ct Raleigh, 27610.
- New Members - Barry and Beth Shaffer and their family ferret, Doodle!
Carma Leckie and her ferret, Jasper! Welcome to all of you! Remember - to
check the mailing label on your newsletter for your membership renewal
date.
