You might have heard it said that ferrets smell. But the truth is, yes. It´s true – there is a certain musky smell to ferrets. But there are certain measurements you can take to reduce the smell:
The only thing about ferret odor is their cage; if left uncleaned, the piles of hair will start to take on a musty odor which can seem pretty unpleasant at times. This problem can easily be fixed by cleaning the cage regularly.
Also, keep an eye on their litter box. It is easy to tell if the ferret has been using it. Clean the litter box regularly too. This will help a lot to reduce any smell.
And lastly, don’t forget about their bedding, sheets, hammock. It would be best if you washed those often to keep any unwanted smell down.
What Kind of Food Should I Feed My Ferrets?
Ferrets are carnivores, which means they need meat in their diet. Even though you might think that a vegetarian diet would be healthier for them, it isn´t true!
Nothing else but quality meat. Raw – after all, ferrets were bred to be hunters. They were used to control rabbit populations or kept on ships to get rid of rats and mice. You could also buy canned food – but make sure it is special ferret food! No starch, no grains, no dairy.
